Thought it would be cool to try more cinematic angle.
I like to do as much as possible myself - here is the smoke sim. I used a walkthrough somewhere to help me along.
Again, this was probably overkill, but I had fun working it out. Not perfect but fine for my purposes.
Hello!
Here's one of those projects that start off small, grow arms and legs, then sit back in a dusty hard drive for years that actually, finally, get finished.
This started as a material test in Mantra, then Redshift, and finished in Arnold - in Houdini.
I tried to stay true to the original - the only ref I couldn't reliably source was the Katana, and after a few failed attempts at something similar I felt it looked better as just wood.
I also thought it would be fun to try a cinematic and candle lit version.
I spend so much time doing wide environments I thought it would be a nice break to focus on some close up asset work.
Thanks!
